Detailed Features

A Closer Look:

8.0 Megapixels
A megapixel (one million pixels) is a unit of image-sensing capacity in a digital camera. A pixel - shorthand for "picture element" - is the basic unit of program- able color on a computer display or in a computer image. In general, the more megapixels in a camera, the better the resolution when making larger prints.

3x Optical Zoom
When the button is pushed to zoom in or out, physical lens elements move inside the camera to achieve the desired effect. Optical zoom lenses actually “move” you closer to the subject of the photograph. The higher the optical zoom rating on a camera, the farther away you can be to take a photograph and still get a clear, close-up image.

2.5" LCD
Digital cameras use the LCD screen as a viewfinder by providing a live video feed of the scene to be captured. The LCDs normally measure between 1.5" and 2.5" diagonally (our LCDs measure 2.5 to 3 inches).

Electronic Image Stabilization
Image Stabilization automatically overcomes shaking or blurring caused by accidental hand movement, helping you take clearer, sharper pictures.

Smile Detection
The camera's sensor detects when subjects are smiling and releases the shutter automatically when the smiles reach their peak. No more battling shutter lag times to get the perfect picture.

Face Detection
The camera detects faces in a scene and then automatically focuses and optimizes exposure for them. This technology helps when taking pictures of large groups, when a person is in the distance or when the subject moves into the frame.

1600 ISO
ISO denotes how sensitive the image sensor is to the amount of light present. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive the image sensor, which means improved ability to take pictures in low-light situations. With a digital camera, you can change ISO speeds on the fly because you don't have to replace rolls of film rated for those speeds.

Panorama
Allows for the creation of ultra-wide panoramic shots. Wide-view photos are produced by panning the camera across to create a seamless panoramic picture.

Red-Eye Removal
Red-eye removal provides users a tool to remove the appearance of red eyes in subjects, which sometimes occurs when pictures are taken using the flash.

Blink Detection
If subjects blink as a photo is snapped, the camera alerts the user afterwards. This allows the photo to be immediately retaken.

I use this camera all the time between work projects and family pics. Images are good quality and easy to upload to my PC for Facebook or just file storage. I wish that the USB port on the side was standard (it's a smaller than mini) because I would like to tote the camera around without taking the cable for just-in-cases. I also would rather charge it by plugging in rather than load another set of AA batteries. Other than those 2 gripes, I love it, and would recommend the buy.

This Camera is pretty good. The video quality is not the best, and the sound doesn't handle loud environments well, but a good deal

Bought this camera for my wife, who wanted a simple to use camera. She loves this camera and carries it with her everywhere. Easy to understand and use without having to use a manual every time you want to do something. Takes great pictures and all the features work as advertised!

I had shopped around for cameras for almost 3 years before settling with this one. I was skeptical at first, but as I had never had a problem with a GE product before decided to go for it. It was the best decision I have ever made. It was easy to use, easy to set up and the sd card I purchased for it installed easily. My technology illiterate mother can even operate the camera and that is saying a lot. (It was also a lot cheaper and has more features than my dad's 8.5 mp kodak easy share).
