Blu-Ray was great it did freeze on a Netflix Blu-Ray but disc had a scratch. Use a a good disc plays excellent. NetFlix watch instantly picture was DVD quality. Pandora internet radio sounded great through the home theater system. YouTube picture quality was good and Blockbuster was DVD quality but I only played trailers I didn't rent a movie yet even though good price. I'm wondering if the people that had problems had a disc in when they updated it. Instructions say not to have a disc in player when updating. My update went off without a hitch. Netflix watch instantly plays way better on this then my XBox 360 no buffering at 2 meg and HDMI. All this for $99.99 how can you go wrong. |

At retail, it's not worth it. At refurb price, it totally is. We bought one, loved it, bought three more.
Upsides: It's the cheapest Netflix streaming box I've found. Plus, it does Pandora, which is quite nice. That alone for $99 would be fine - but then it plays DVD's and BD's. Win!
Downsides:
- Doesn't do Hulu streaming. It should
- The UI is slightly laggy: it takes it a little while to react to button presses. It's not huge, just noticeable. |

I got this on Monday, but I didn't get time to unwrap it until this weekend. I am really happy about its overall performance.
Good things:
This price is hard to beat, even if this is a refurbishes product it is perfectly packed and you get the feeling you're getting a quality product.
Streaming setup was really fast. No issues with connecting to an older receiver (with no HDMI) using optical cable.
I read some complaints from other customers about the unit being too noisy. That hasn't been a problem for us because it's in the living room.
It might be a problem for a bedroom setup.
Not so good:
It is SLOW. At times even pausing or fast-forwarding feels delayed. Unfortunately this seems to be common across BD players, and I've noticed it in much more expensive devices.
While the control is supposed to be able to control TV, it doesn't work well in our TV. We now have 4 remotes in our table (TV, BD, cable, receiver). |
