Nokia 5300 XpressMusic Unlocked GSM Cell Phone
Text. Music. Call. Music. Games. Music. Alarm... Can you guess what's next? Even a fifth grader can figure that out. But don't worry, in case you still don't get it, there's no numerical pattern here - only remember 5300. It's Nokia's version in summing up games, photos, calls, texts, and music in one good-looking slider phone.
The Nokia 5300 belongs to the XpressMusic family. So expect it to have special functions that are slanted towards music. When the phone is closed, it looks like an MP3 player; but slide it open and it reveals the keypad, turning it into a mobile phone. Since it's a music phone, the 5300's got rubberized dedicated music controls on the left side so you can easily skip, play, and pause tracks without having to slide it open. There's also a 2.5mm audio jack and a speaker at the back so you can switch from private listening to sharing your music.
With a TFT screen display of 240x320 resolution, you get to see the visual details without squinting and even enjoy watching some video clips that you got from the internet. A 1.3 megapixel camera allows you to grab some snaps for your Photobucket and its also capable of recording video if you have a video blog. The 5300 is capable of playing MPEG4 videos and accepts MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, and M4A audio formats. It also has an FM tuner so you can listen to your favorite DJs counting down the top 40 hits. It's got 7 MB of internal memory and it's expandable up to 2GB with a microSD card. Connecting to the internet is easy with WAP 2.0, XHTML while Bluetooth 2.0 lets you transfer files with paired devices. The Nokia 5300 also has tri-band capabilites with GPRS and EDGE so you can take this phone as you roam around the world.

Its ok. To be fair it does do what it is suppose to, calls, SMS and I don't use the music player feature so I can't comment there. As a nokia fan, I think its a less intuative then other models and the top function buttons are very easy to mash together.
Vibration alert is too soft. Maximum volume is also not loud enough. Consequently I've missed calls with it in my pocket.
I spent $150 on this thing in total. For another $100 I could have gotten something far more advanced, features like wifi or gps are far beyond this model. |

This phone is exactly what I was after. This site had the best price. Only complaint about the phone is the short battery life. Otherwise it's a great phone. |

Great Phone does everything I want plus some. Seems to be pretty solid for a slider. MP3 and radio are fairly loud for having such a small speaker and the camera takes pretty decent pictures. |

Positives: Call quality is great, texting is fast and easy to do; you can set up shortcuts to most used features; screen looks good; slider is solid mechanism with a satisfying click. It has held up well, considering I'm tough on phones.
Negatives: Don't keep the phone in your front pocket! This phone pocket dials, even with the lock feature enabled, if the phone slightly ''slides'' while in front pocket the lock feature disables.
Dust gets in behind the back cover and camera lens, requiring you to remove back cover to take good pics.
My battery life was poor, specifically 1 day with light usage. |

An excellent phone at a very affordable price. Please take note though that the ''What's in the Box'' pic below is not accurate. If you buy this phone, all you get is the phone itself, the power plug, and a usb cable. This wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that since it doesn't come with the earphones, you need the 2.5 mm adapter to use your own earphones, which also does not come with the phone. I suppose you could always purchase both separately, but the item should have at least come with such a necessary part as the adapter. (or at least the earphones) |

We know it might've been an accident, but whether it suffered a small splash of water or a swim in an ocean, they can't take it back.
