This model was easy to set up with not a single problem. This replacement for my old color laser is wonderful. I'm not going to miss the color very much as nowadays I'm not doing much with graphics, and the cost saving will be considerable since I will only need to replace the black toner. This printer will turn on when you hit print in your computer software and will have your document nicely printed with the first page out very quickly. The machine is quiet too. And I love the simplicity of making copies with it; Computer isn't needed. I have not had to hassle with the on-off switch in the back like one of the reviewers mentioned. Leave the back switch always on. If you want to make a copy just hold your finger over the on sensor in the front top to turn it on. To turn it off after you are done hold your finger there again for a few seconds. People who are ultra sensitive might be bothered by a toner smell when printing. |

Printer is small, fast, quiet. Copys are clear and sharp. Wish they had a color version of this printer. The only thing I would change is the on-off switch is in the back of the printer and would be easier in the front. |

finally gave up on inkjets, very quiet energy star low power and quiet. only problem could only print text when sharing on network with (dlink 323 nas) and then was glitchy. had to hook to ubuntu desktop to share and have full use of scan and print functionality. if using on network spend extra and get wifi version |

Although I've only had this product about a month - first impressions are the most positive I've ever felt for a printer I've purchased. While in the past my old laser all-in-one's have all had some glitch right from manufacturer that is ridiculously annoying (e.g., jamming consistently, paper feed errors with no paper in the machine, software that won't let me change the default print options, etc.); my SCX-4500 hasn't let me down at all. In fact, I just discover more about the printer that I love every day. Although there is no faxing; if you want to sacrifice a function that most home buyers use rarely to ensure the quality and dependability of the printing/scanning/copying features, then this is the printer for you. Not to mention when you turn the printer on it's oh so pleasing that everyday home office work (due to Samsung's heavy use of cool blue LED lights) begins to feel like a night landing at JFK. |
