I bought this HD & a 2 year replacement agreement expecting problems much later. IT ARRIVED DOA - DEAD ON ARRIVAL.I bought the My Book HD to replace a failed 13 month old Seagate external 500 GB HD purchased from Tigerdirect. They seems to believe it's ok to sell junk as long as it's returnable. Your lost data is your problem. If a lose of business is what they want - they shall have it! |

I use this as the external hard drive for Bell expressvu high def reciever 6131. There are no performance issues with it. |

Work fine for about 4 months but then I stated geting warning about the data being corrupt so I did a Scan to try and fix the corrupt sections and now the hardive is dead. It did have good transfer rates via SATA. |

This drive rocks! I have hooked it up via eSata and am getting a 20x improvement over my USB or Firewire externals. Regardless of the dream statistics quoted here and there, I usually get 1-3 MBps out of USB or 1394, but am getting up to 70MBps out of my eSata. This makes it perfect for storing those huge media files that require high burst rates to allow fast forward, scene jumping etc.
Check your motherboard manual first, to see if you are eSata capable. If you have a new machine, you might already have the port on the back. If not, it's not too hard to cable it, but patience with the BIOS changes (get help if you don't know what I mean). |

Best drive I've ever bought I have no idea what the other reviewer is talking about it's not WD's fault he does not know what SATA looks like |
