The Hauppauge WinTv-HVR1950 USB Tuner is a very good product that does what it is supposed to do and the software completes the package with all you need to get up and running. |

I picked this up because I wanted a reliable unit for my HTPC system. It looks to be made well enough. I tried for around 3 hours to get it to pick up the S-Video from my Sat box AND my OTA HD channels. It will do one or the other, but not both. So, it's either an expensive adapter for your cable box or an expensive tuner. I'd pass and buy something else. This went back. |

I purchased this product for a vista 64bit. I wanted to use this with media center. After a week I discovered I didn't have the media center TV pack installed. After the install I could pick up digital channel. Due to the current Cable I have I had to map most of the channels myself but after that was done it all seem to be working ok. Not as reliable as TIVO...I've been using this tuner for a few weeks and it has locked up a few time. I've also ran into media center locking up too. Its not a perfect system but I feel its was well worth it in the end. |

I am perfectly happy with my Hauppauge 1950 model 1192 USB TV card. It works very well in Windows XP Pro. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work in SuSE Linux 11.1 Can somebody send me a link to a tutorial? joelm_audion@msn.com |

I purchased this a few days ago and have not been able to get it working properly. I can tune analog tv with windows media center, or analog/digi tv with win media center, and just analog tv with beyond tv. I would not have a problem about having to use wintv to watch digital tv accept the program is entirely third rate. It has no guide and needs a plugin to schedule tv recording. With the purchase of a 139.99 dollar tuner you would expect it to work, or at least be able to offer you an equivalent performance of a digi tuner and an analog tuner.
Do yourself a favor and do not buy this, purchase a digi tuner and an analog tuner separate for 50 bucks each and save some money and headaches and you will also have a working setup.
As for me I am going to return it and do just that. Hauppauge really messed up with this one (tear) |
