IMHO, if You need convinient everyday pocket-sized camera, it is excelent choise. Also, check Canon Powershot SD1200. Do not expect SD780 to be much better because of 12 megapixels instead of 10. Actually, it is almost the same camera with minimal differences. HOWEVER. If You are looking for stellar quality of pictures, skip all pocket-sized cameras. It is theoretically impossible, because of small sensor and small lenses. If You are upgrading from previous-generation Canon camera, do not expect much. Improvements are minimal. So I recommend to delay upgrade by another year or so.

I have always been a fan of canon cameras. I bought this to replace my lost one and I could not be happier. The picture quality is awesome. The only problem is that you cannot record video on any other format than .mov, which I personally do not like. Wish they support avi.
