I shopped around for a while but this package had the most bang for the buck. Not thrilled with the keyboard or mouse but they are easily (and cheaply) replaced. Both work fine but just not tho my taste. Hardrive, memory and processor were are all great for my gaming and work purposes. Still getting used to Vista's quirks and for some reason the system doesn't like Avast... so, three weeks in and no issues (knock wood). Add a good wireless device and maybe upgrade the video card and you have a great machine for under $600! |

My only downsize on the Gateway DX4200-09 is the 300w PSU. It can easily upgraded with a new power supply and graphics card. I made a noob mistake and bought this PC at a well-known tech retailer (BB) and paid much more. Overall I am VERY satisfied with the package. Starting out with 4gb of ram is great and it sill has 2 available memory slots. I bought it to play WoW and it does that marvelously with mid-high settings, and no lag. Going to ''Can you run it'' says that I pass the minimum requirements for nearly all games. Can't wait to put a new graphics card in this puppy and see how she runs. |

Happy with the computer, suits the basic gaming needs and needs of the family. Fan is quiet. Only dislike is the mouse, with the buttons being hard to press. |

I've had this unit for 9 months and it started locking up. It will lock up after just 10 min to just a few hours of idling. It has been sent to Gateway 4 times and still locks up. Over the last 5 weeks GW & FedEx has had it 4 weeks total. Tech Support sounds like thier reading a script each time I call them to send it back. I was told that since Acer now owns GW that they will keep sending it back it they can't duplicate the problem even if it takes 20 times. Tech support even told me pull the battery to do a memory drain, IT'S A DESKTOP! Well, finally after the 5th failure they decided to replace it. We'll see how the replacement works. |
