Delivered in two days. My unit would not recognize and format a dvd. The remote is useless and does not work at all. I've always been very happy with everything I ordered from TD in the past but this time I got a DUD. |

Well, I like this recorder alot. No hookup on back for direct TV connection to recorder you need a cable box or a converter. My cable box is downstairs in family room, and I just have straight cable to my TV upstairs. Otherwise it's a great buy and it really does a nice job for $119 dollars. You got to love Refurb i.e. quaility goods for less than half price. Most all my stuff from this site have been very nice and last. I bought a Acer Mini laptop, a E machine, and lots of other refurbs and they are all just great.

i didnt hook this up until 4 months after i bought it. my fault but go figure. doesnt work and the warranty only covers parts, no labor. 65 just to look at it plus 105 per hour for labor with an hour min. i only paid 130 for it so do the math. plus i would have to pay to ship it back to the manufacturer! |

This product works just wonderful and is a good buy for the money it does everything I expected it to do and more, I might just order of another one. |

Bought this to replace a great albeit ugly Panasonic unit that died from a power spike. Overall quality appears good, and it's much better looking. Dubbing from VHS is great; video quality is as good as the Panasonic at half the price.
But. A HUGE caveat for those wishing to record broadcast programming. The JVC will NOT record any signal in which it detects digital copy protection, which means most pay channels and a good deal of everyday free programming (via Comcast at least). And there is no way around it.
Let's be clear. It is NOT illegal in the US to record programs delivered to the home, for personal use, no matter the originating source or means of delivery. It is only illegal to redistribute said programming.
Why JVC decided to go this route is beyond me. It cripples this otherwise solid unit for use as a central recording source. I will now have to buy the new Panasonic unit I should have purchased in the first place. |
