I bought the unit to round out an audio project studio that included consolidating the HD's of 4 other computers I no longer need. Started formatting in a RAID config using 4 matched Seagate 1.5Tb HDs, but before the 37hrs(!) were up, I thought "why give up the overhead when I have a Blu-ray burner onboard?" So I'm not using RAID, but do have a backup protocol, and am enjoying the wide open vistas of 5.6Tb of networked storage! Eventually intend to use this as a media server for client stems, and audition dubs, as well as website hosting. This thing does it all. I just hope LG creates a community base around this thing, like exists for the Drobo. |

Received a LG-N4B1N recently; within the hour after receiving the NAS I was transferring files to it and immediately noticed how much faster it was than my other NAS's and very much faster than my HP MediaSmart Server EX485. I am transferring all my files from the HP to the LG. One difference between the LG and HP is LG uses embedded XP while HP uses Windows Home Server.
The LG is very easy to use, has quality workmanship and is a great investment; although the price of the LG is expensive today, hopefully LG will sell alot of them and the price will go down.
