Out of the box, the HDX101 is easy to install and just plain works. Plug one into your router and the other(s) into the ethernet port of your remote computers. Auto-detection of each poweline ethernet adapter is automatic. That said, here are my concerns: I have 4 of these units with two of them connected to DirecTV TIVO boxes. When I run Netgear's configuration utility, after auto-detection, the only adapter rated at 200 mbps is the one connected to my router. One connected to a computer upstairs says96/109 (Tx/Rx). The ones connected to my Tivos are even less about 60-70 mbps for both Tx/Rx. I have not performed any measurement of actual speed. Another issue is that I'm continually prompted to upgrade the adapters to new firmware. When you do so, you must unplug each one and plug it into the router separately. You cannot upgrade a 'remote' adapter. I succeeded upgrading one. The next one upgraded very slowly and times out. I cannot upgrade that one at all! What's the performance gain of the firmware upgrade (if any): don't know. I think Netgear needs to pay attention to these issues. My biggest question is: are these adapters that much faster than the cheaper 10 mbps or 85 mbps adapters which they and other companies sell? I'd like to see a comparison done by an independent entity.

Purchased this product so I could connect my DirecTV TiVO to my internet. Was easy to connect. Works great. I think the price is a little high but I would highly recommend the product

Works great in my 2 story house and was extremely easy to setup.

My only concerns are that it is much more than running wireless and that the adapter runs extremely hot.
