APC UPS/Surge Protector

Features

High-performance protection: This protector provides an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) as well as protection against surges and spikes that travel over phone/fax/modem and high-speed Internet lines.

Backup time: This UPS offers up to 65 minutes of backup time at 80VA/50 watts.

Graceful shutdowns: This device offers 550VA/330 Watts of output—enough power for most PCs and an assortment of peripherals. If power is not restored, the included software (PowerChute v2.1.1, which is Windows XP and Vista compatible and requires a USB connection) will gracefully shut down your PC for you, so that no data is lost (If you have Windows 2003 or 2008, you'll be able to download another version of PowerChute for free and will need to use a serial connection.).

Connections: This device features eight outlets—all with surge protection and four that also feature battery backup.

Alarms: Don't worry about running out of power, this protector has alarms to indicate when the battery is being used, when battery power runs low or when there is a continuous overload.

It is only 48 minutes of backup

As of 5/12/07 this Circuit City ad states it has 65 minutes of backup. Upon picking up the product, I realized the box says it is only 48 and there is nothing to be done about it by calling customer service.

I have 2 of these units, 1 is for my desktop pc for safe power down and the other is used for my dsl modem and wireless router so I can continue to work with my laptop while power is down. Our power goes down fairly often. My only complaint is the annoying beeping it makes when the power is off and there is no way to silence it. I actually went into the units and removed the small speakers, I see no need for that as I'm usually quite aware that the power is out. Very good product though.

It has more features than I need. I use it to protect a small home phone system. I am very satisfied with the product. I have used APC products before and have always been satisfied with their reliability. This is a great value if purchased on sale (under 35 dollars).
