Records to flash drive/memory card: With the 8GB flash drive, you’ll have built-in memory that prepares you to capture the unexpected. With an external slot for SD and MMC memory cards, you’ll always have options. Add memory, play videos, transfer images, music and documents quickly and easily using the memory type of your choice.

CMOS sensor: The SC-HMX10 features a 1/4.5” CMOS sensor with 1.6 megapixel resolution.

HD recording: Record the scene in 720p high-definition video and 16:9 widescreen movie format.

Zoom: Optical zoom magnifies subjects without sacrificing resolution—this camcorder features a 10x optical zoom. The 20x digital zoom picks up where optical zoom leaves off, stretching pixels so that your favorite part of the image fills the screen.

Pro-quality lens: The SC-HMX10 uses a Schneider lens, so what you see in the viewfinder is what you’ll capture.

2.7” LCD screen: The wide touchscreen LCD makes it easy to access key menu functions and frame important shots.

Electronic image stabilizer: This camcorder digitally compensates for distracting camera shake, distinguishing between unintentional and deliberate movement. You’ll appreciate the enhanced video—especially when viewing in HD.

HDMI output: With a single cable, you'll send a pure digital signal, audio and video, to your television to get the ultimate HD viewing experience. You can also connect using component, composite or USB.

Digital still mode: Use your camcorder as a camera to shoot crisp 1440 x 1080 pixel photos. This camcorder is PictBridge-enabled, so you can connect directly to a printer to print your photos.

Records in MPEG-4/H.264 format: This state-of-the-art format lets you save more high-quality video in less recording space. Lightweight, compact and featuring an elegant design, the SC-HMX10 can be carried anywhere for versatile shooting. Because it features 1.5 mega pixel CCD with digital image stabilization, even those action-packed shots will come through in HD clarity. On extended trips, the convenience of 8GB built-in flash memory and expandable memory (via a SD/MMC slot) offer comfort that every minute will be captured and saved.

Users will find the advanced capabilities of the SC-HMX10 are easy to operate. The 2.7-inch wide touch screen LCD makes it easy to access key menu functions and frame important shots. The simple docking cradle allows for multiple options through USB, A/C and A/V component connections. Additionally, consumers can do simple cut and paste edits right in the camcorder. With the supplied editing software, more sophisticated edits can be done through their PC.

The entire HD camcorder space is a huge mess of no standards.
This camera creates mp4.avc format files.
This recording standard is used by Sony PSP and almost every illegal P2P movie download out there.
I would comment that it takes a very current PC toplay this format/edit and export to various other formats using the software provided in the box, but you CAN burn this to a normal DVD and play it in your PS3. You can also use the SD card plug it into your PS3 and play it that way.

I recorded HD footage in my house at night with normal lighting conditions and it looked just fine on my 73' DLP mitsubishi TV via the inbox component cables.
Kinda lame that an HDMI cable is not provided considering they advertise this connectivity as a big feature for thiscamera.

I purchased this HA camera for $575 with no tax in store pickup here in Oregon. There just isn't another HD camera for this price and it is one of the smallest and easy to use among the camera's I demo'd at the store.

The other camera's may provide better picture, but I thought what I recorded at home was just fine and certainly better than my Sony DCR-PC1 that has served me well for over 9 years.

the video quality is every bit as good as those $1000+ camcorders i know i had one returned it. get this a spare battery for those $1000+ camcorders is $100+ for the samsung only $26 thats for a samsung brand (generic batteries will not work on these units) if one works and something happens your warranty will be void. so getting back to the price i can get almost 3 of these for the price of one of the big names. and the video quality is so amazing i am wowed every time i play my videos on my 50' lcd tv thats with the reg. cables that came with the camcorder i have not even tried it with a HDMI cable also has a great crystal clear 10x optical zoom with the highest speed in zooming in& out i have ever seen in a camcorder. great touch screen all aroundoutstanding camcorder. i also want to add great service i got from circuit city with my refund and exchange without any problems.
