Product description

Panasonic 50" VIERA Plasma HDTV

Features

Screen size: This plasma television has a 50” screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner. This screen size is perfect for viewing from 6.3’ to 12.5’ away.

Resolution: A 1080p resolution means that this television has 1080 rows of pixels vertically. The more pixels a TV has, the clearer the images it can produce. The p stands for progressive scan, which means the TV refreshes every row of pixels during each cycle to produce smoother motion and sharper picture than interlaced scan.

NTSC tuner: A built-in NTSC tuner allows you to view standard analog television broadcasts through your television without a separate cable box.

ATSC tuner: The ATSC tuner means that you can enjoy over-the-air digital channels and theater quality audio (with a separate HD antenna) without the need for a digital antenna.

QAM tuner: The QAM tuner gives this TV the capability to receive free in-the-clear digital programming.

Aspect ratio: A width to height pixel ratio of 16:9 means this TV has a widescreen aspect ratio, which accurately recreates the dimensions in which HD programming and many feature films are shot.

Contrast ratio: Contrast ratio describes the difference between the darkest blacks and brightest whites a television is capable of producing. Since there is no industry standard for how contrast ratio is measured, it is only significant within a brand, not between brands. This television has a contrast ratio of 20,000:1.

Inputs: Using the 3 available HDMI inputs, you can experience high definition audio and video up to 1080p, the highest possible resolution available. The 2 component video inputs can be used for video resolution up to 1080i. Also available are 2 S-video inputs, 2 composite video inputs, and 1 RF input.

480Hz sub-field drive: 480Hz sub-field drive ensures that even fast action retains the highest possible resolution with no motion blur.

ENERGY STAR® qualified: Circuit City is proud to offer our customers products with the ENERGY STAR label. ENERGY STAR qualified products and practices help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE. The ENERGY STAR label also designates superior energy performance in homes and buildings.

Excellent TV

My husband and I have two flat panel 40'' TV's and decided we wanted a 50' for the living room. I did my research and the LG 50' was not rated very well but I did like what I heard about the Samsung. Anyway we went to CC and their we saw an aray of Plasma's but most were the 07 models. We decided on the Panasonic because of the good reviews and for what our salesman had told us. While he was checking stock I went to sit down in front of another Panasonic and the salesman came back to give us the information and I asked him about this paticular model and he checked it out and apparently it was their new 08 model which had just come in and was only 30.00 more than the 07 model and looked so much nicer.
We went with the 08 model and it was hung yesterday and let me just say DO NOT PASS THIS ONE UP!!!! Wow what a great picture and the vibrant colors just jump out at you. Many people say the sound on these TV's are not the best but this model sounds great even without our sound system. We are VERY happy.

Best thing I did for my man cave

I had been researching the HDTV's for some time now and found (Panasonic 50') and loved it in the store. I did not have it professionally set-up and there are no regrets. The picture quality is awesome. I also purchased the Sony blu-ray player the sound quality is awesome!

Our family favorite is action movies. There is no blurring on the screen and the TV keeps up with the picture during high speed scenes. Factor in the surround sound and blu ray--it's bettert han being in the theater. Base Ball playoffs were to so great almost like being at the game. Matter fact we were at a game this summer, I setup the DVR came home and could see my family in the stands almost like 3D effect.

One additional feature that we enjoy is adding the SD card from our camerafor a high quality photo show. The SD card pops right into the front of the TV itself and has an on-screen menu to start the process. We have a highresolution digital camera and the picture quality on screen is amazing!

I am no looking to purchas a HDTVfor the Bedroom.

Great TV!!! Excellent value!!

I have had this TV for about 2 months and I must say it is awesome. The picture with a high def source is perfect. Standard def picture is good as well. I researched for months before buying this product and I have no regrets whatsoever. And for the price, you cannot beat it.
For those concerned about plasma vs LCG, in my opinion, you simply cannot go wrong with Plasma the picture on fast moving scenes and with sports is absolutely flawless on this plasma. I wish I would have gotten this TV sooner. Also, the sound is not as bad as some make it out to be. It is about as good as any other TV. Of course, if you want that blow you out of the room, make the windows rattle, disturbe your neighbors sound then, yes, you need a home entertainment system. For everyone else, the TV speakers are fine.
