Features

BD-Live Ready Blu-ray player with upconversion: BD-Live Ready denotes that, through an Ethernet Internet connection, you will be able to download the necessary software to make the BDP-1500 BD-Live. BD-Live is the newest Blu-ray technology that, with a BD-Live encoded disc and an Ethernet connection, allows you to unlock special features such as updatable previews, behind-the-scenes features, online multi-player games, and even ringtones for your cell phone. You'll also be able to enjoy the rich clarity of Blu-ray Disc technology with the BDP-1500. The player also takes your standard DVDs to a higher level, upconverting them to increase their resolution to 1080p, which is near high definition.

Advanced sound: DTS-HD Master Audio is the benchmark in 7.1 sound decoding: with the least amount of data compression, each sound channel is relayed to its own speaker in a 7.1 home theater system. Other 7.1 decodings include Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital TrueHD, and DTS-HD. If you have a 5.1 home theater system, you can use the player’s downmixing feature, which converts 7.1 down to 5.1.

Connectivity: HDMI lets you connect to either a home theater system or HDTV with only one cable. You'll also find an Ethernet connection as well as TOSLink, digital coaxial and multi-channel RCA outputs.

I waited for this player to come out for a couple of months thinking that Samsung would have worked all the bugs out of there blu-ray player scenes it is a third generation. I have to say with a blu-ray movie in, it plays clear and sounds great I have ithooked up to a Samsung 46' (650). But I do have a gripe and that is when you are playing a DVD movie it has a tendency to freeze every chapter as a movie goes on. It is kind of frustrating and annoying. I hope that they will make a fire wall to down loadto fix this problem.

I purchased this Blu-Ray as a package with a Samsung 52' LCD TV.
The TV was on order, but I took the player home and connected it to my existing TV. The first one was faulty, so I returned it and got another. This one had exactly the same problem so I called Samsung Tech Support. After the typical 'reboot' solution advisory that came with a very heavy Indian accent, I was told to return it for service. I returned it to the dealer and exchanged it for a Sony that has come up beautifully. I hope the same quality issues don't exist when I get the TV.

This is my first blu-ray experience and I was blown away. I don't have any other blu ray players to compare to, but this one looks absolutley awesome on my 46 inch samsumg A650 LCD tv. It pairs perfectly together. Even the regular old DVD's look high def! That was a great surprise! And I got it on sale for $199!
