Installation impossible on Win. 98/ME

I first had installed this wireless NIC on a machine running Win XP Pro - no problems. It worked great. Install the software (first) prior to installing the card - this is very important. Then shutdown system, insert NIC into PCI slot, reboot machine.Instantly XP picks up the NIC and instantly all available wireless networks are visible - pick one and you're connected.

However, I needed to move the NIC to a machine running Win 98, no luck whatsoever. The system would not recognize the NIC. So I upgraded to ME. Still no luck. I have attempted everything - even contacting Linksys support via email on their site. They won't even return my email. I've always thought Linksys was a reputable company - well there goes that.

Bottom line =
Windows 2000/XP - works wonderfully
Windows 98/ME - do NOT purchase - will NOT operate.

Hopefully this works. I had to return the product and purchase another brand for my ME machine.

It took 10 minutes to install and start working online. I put this on an old desktop running XP so that my kids could use it to get the internet. For the $40 sale price it was perfect. Its not the highest speed wireless connection but its located on the opposite side of the house and on a seperate floor from my hub in a desk cabinet so I am pleased that i got a good signal

I bought one actiontec wireless dsl modem gt70wg for verizon and also linksys pci adapter. First I installed the dsl modem into my hp pc window xp in three weeks ago then two week later that I bought the linksys pci adpater wmp 54g and installed it intothe old machine e pc window me (1998) and it worked. Instead of dsl ethernet cable. The wireless network is great compatible with all the systems.
