APC Back UPS XS Surge Protector and Battery Backup

Features

Power: This battery backup system pumps out 540 watts of electricity in case of power failure and is surge energy rated at 459 joules. It protects your electronics with RJ-45 modem/fax protection (two wire single line) as well as coaxial video/cable protection.

Backup time: Get up to 5.5 minutes of backup time at full load or 18.3 minutes at half load. It's plenty of time to get your components shut down.

LED status display: The LED status display indicates when the unit is on, when the battery is on and has indicators to tell you when it's time to replace the battery and when overload occurs.

Alarms: Audible alarms for on battery, distinctive low battery and overload situations.

Outputs: With this unit, you get six NEMA 5-15R battery backup outputs and two NEMA 5-15R surge protection outputs. Also available is one NEMA 5-15P input.

Maintenance free: The maintenance-free sealed lead-acid battery with suspended electrolyte is leakproof and safe.

I did not know my 17 inch CRT monitor pulled about the same watts my old UPS was rated until this BX900R UPS software showed me (Amps X volts = watts). To read this and other information just plug in the supplied cable with one end data port and the other USB and then install the software. It has a fan, which my old UPS did not. When (power out) is turned off the fan still runs to keep the charger cool, I guess. If the battery is charged up I just turn the input power off and the fan will stop. The fan does seem to speed up and down as needed. My PC is ten times noiser than this UPS fan so no problem for me. This UPS comes with six back up side 120 volt plug ins and two surge 120 volt plug ins, phone line plug ins and cable plug ins. I'm well pleased with the back up and its auto shutdown software.

Has the cable connector which other UPSs dont have. Has a higher joule rating than comparable models at that price. AVR is a must for Florida in the summer. Just keep working through when the power cuts out!

I work at a small start-up company that has the microwave oven and the electric hot water heater on the same circuit (our one and only circuit) and every time they are on simultaneously, the circuit breaker blows, which knocks out our PCs. We purchased4 of these UPS because of this, so we've actually got to test them quite a bit. The bottom line is that they were well documented, easy to install, and they perform exactly as advertised. We've had 5 outages since we installed them two weeks ago and none of the four PCs even skipped a beat. I recommend this product entusiastically.
