APC UPS/Surge Protector

Features

High-performance protection: This protector provides an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) as well as protection against surges and spikes that travel over phone/fax/modem and high-speed Internet lines.

Backup time: This UPS offers up to 65 minutes of backup time at 80VA/50 watts.

Graceful shutdowns: This device offers 550VA/330 Watts of output—enough power for most PCs and an assortment of peripherals. If power is not restored, the included software will gracefully shut down your PC for you, so that no data is lost.

Connections: This device features eight outlets—all with surge protection and four that also feature battery backup.

Alarms: Don't worry about running out of power, this protector has alarms to indicate when the battery is being used, when battery power runs low or when there is a continuous overload.

Works like it should, annoying beep though

This battery backup works exactly as it should. When you get a power surge, or your power cuts off during a storm, whatever device you have hooked up keeps going without a hitch. Depending on what you have hooked up, the backup time is up to 65 minutes. Now, that said - be aware that if you have a laptop plugged in, you'll get your 65 minutes. If you have 2 LCD t.v.s and a desktop plugged in, you'll get 10 at most. Still, it gives you enough time to backup what you need to.

One note: this unit has 6 plugs, but only three have a battery backup. Make sure you have your important devices plugged into the right ones!

We are in what is called the lighting capital of the USA with violent thunder and lighting storms. The most recent one caused the electricity to flicker off momentarily. The unit worked flawlessly and instantly. Would recommend to anyone.

The thing that makes this superior to other brands is the software that will actually shut down your system properly if you run out of battery and are not around.

We have horrible storms here, and its so nice to know that my computer isn't going to be afatality if one starts while I'm not home and I've forgotten to turn it off.

This is my third one, so there have been some reliability issues, but those were due, at least in part, to the fact that my cat likes to sleep on the box because it is warm.

Having addressed that, I bought this one to have a stronger unit for more time when the lights go out
