It couldn't have been easier. Unpackaged, connected to USB, connected to power, and turned on my Windows Vista Ultimate immediately recognized it as an external 1TByte drive and assigned a drive letter. I moved my video from drive C (250GByte) and D(250Gbyte) with a simple Windows Explorer 'MOVE' command. Only one thing I had to do: The drive came formatted for FAT32. I had to reformat it to NTFS it took less than 30 seconds for the 'Quick Format'. The only reason I gave it a 3 for performance is because I do not have the eSata connectivity I need so throughput, using USB, is much slower than Sata drive-to-Sata drive. Sata Drive-to-Sata drive is about 36mbits/sec. Sata drive-to-USB drive is about 18mbits/sec. I do, however, have a Sata-to-eSata PCI bracket and eSata-to-eSata cable on order from Addonics Technologies, Inc. When I get that and install it I will revisit the performance evaluation.

I had to hold the drive vertically on it's end to get it going after it would not work flat on it's side or vertically in the stand. Now it works in the stand normally and the drive shows up in the hardware properties as WD10EACS-00ZJB0. Did a quick NTFSformat and transferred a 100GB of files to it without problems. Turned it off over night and it powered up fine the next morning.
