Good Deal ** High Quality Comfortable Headphone

These headphones are comfortable, conforming to the size of your head. Constantly adjusting if need be. These are not noise cancelling headphones. Comfortably cover your ear with an even extended range. I've been listening on a Denon Unit with their AL24sound reproduction with a Japaneese mastered CD of Two Against Nature and the 24 bit HDCD David Crosby album originally recorded at 13 ips, If Only I Could Remember My Name. Previously, I have owned headphones with 40mm Drivers that originally ran the same cost as these Audio Technica ATH A-55 headphones. They can't begin to compare with these headphones in comfort or sound.

Great receiver headphones

These are the most comfortable big headphones I have ever worn. The leather pads do not feel sticky on your skin like plastic pads do. They really adjust to your head instantly. No playing around with them. The Oxygen Free Copper cord is long enough to sit on the couch and play video games on my PS3 late at night. These are NOT Ipod headphones. They did not sound good at all when I hooked them up to my ipod, but that is OK. I bought these 60 ohm home stereo headphones to listen on my Denon receiver, not my ipod. These headpones do sound very natural and balanced than most and sound like the old Sony monitors I always wanted, but much more comfortable. My only complaint is that sound is not spacious and as crystal clear as I thought they'd be. They don't hold a candle to my stereo speakers but they are the bottom of Audio Techinica audiophile line. For $99, the price of the old Sony monitors 8 yrs ago, they are WELL worth the price. The great thing is if you want something with even more clarity, go to the Audio Techinica website. They have many more headphones better than these in the import audiophile line. After listening to these Japanese made babies, I am very confident in the quality of there products. I got exactly what I wanted in this price range and then some. Great deal.

Worth the money

Very natural sounding headphones. The midrange is a little rolled off, but very clear, spacial sound. If you find Sennheiser headphones a little harsh sounding, the Audio Technica ATH-A55's are a great alternative.

These headphones are efficient enoughto get quality sound out of an ipod, but excel when powered by a quality receiver. They sound great on my Denon AVR-1804 receiver.

I've also been listening to them on my pc, with a Soundblaster Live sound card run to a Headstage headphone amp. Amazing. Has anyone else noticed that the Soundblaster Audigy, although superior on paper, can't match the old Live! card for clarity or smoothness of bass.

As for music types, these headphones do well with just about everything. I've listened to anythingfrom 'The Concert for George' DVD to TOOL to R&B and I haven't been disappointed. The bass is very deep yet controlled and precise considering the 53mm drivers. You may actually find that for rap, the bass may be a little too controlled. But then again, these are truly meant to produce Audiophile quality sound.

Lastly, these headphones are the most comfortable I have ever owned. However, they are also the biggest I have ever owned. These things are huge! I guess you can't fit 53mm/2in drivers in asmall package.
