I'm a recording engineer and people pay me to do audio work. While I love my 12 disc CD changer, I crave the variety of my little MP3 player. I've been through a couple of cassette adapters (Sony and Monster) and I've tried the Belkin FM transmitter which was returned immediately due to terrible sound quality.

The cassette adapters when brand new would hiss between songs and didn't sound that great even with a squeeky clean cassette deck. This FM modulator is completely silent between songs and thesound quality is near CD quality. I'm shocked with the quality of this device through my Pioneer tuner. I really couldn't be happier.

The downside is that installing this is nearly the same amount of work as installing a new car stereo. Pull the fusefrom the fuse panel, remove the trim pieces in the dash, do your magic to slide the stereo out, tap into accessory power and ground then solder your connections, put it inline with the antenna, etc. You get the idea. I installed my own head unit, CD changer and sub a few years ago so I know exactly what I'm doing and I have all the tools. It still took about 30 minutes to carefully install it. If you don't feel comfortable doing the equivalent of installing a new car stereo then pay to get it installed. That's the downside. And also you can't take this along with you for a weekend road trip in someone else's car like a cassette adapter or a FM (wireless) transmitter, as it lives in your dash and is (or should be) soldered in place. The upside is mymp3's finally sound good when I'm driving!

I usually don't write reviews, but I thought this might help someone out who's trying to make a decision.

I drive a company Freightliner semi truck thru out the surrounding states for work. I bought this fm modulator so I would not have to keep searching for an open FM Channel using my XM Radio's wireless fm transmitter. Being a leased vehicle, I was unable to get a new car stereo with an Aux input, even at my own expense ! It took me about 35 minutes to install it behind the dash without having to cut any wires. I was able to run the input cable behind the dash and up the right side behind the molding ,to where my XM Radio mounts, so the wires were completely hidden. The Power switch is hidden behind the garbage can under the dash. The sound is amsome !! This would work for ANY input source. Xm or Sirrus or an MP3 player. Highly recomend buying this product!

The sound quality is great! Much better than wireless modulators. It requires a bit of work to install it, but it's well worth the work.
