This 4-port USB installed easily, and works with or without the power supply!

I first plugged this Belkin 4-port USB 2.0 hub into one of my Dell Dimension 8200 USB 1.1 ports, and it worked fine, the computer recognized the hardware automatically, both the Belkin itself and a joystick I connected to the hub. Then a day later, I installed a StarTech USB 2.0 and Firewire Combo PCI card inside my computer to update it to USB 2.0, which by the way did not require hooking up any internal power, just pushed it into an existing slot. Then I connected the Belkin hub to one of the new USB2.0 ports, and the hub again worked fine, and I presume much faster now, and the computer recognized the new USB 2.0 and Firewire hardware. Also, the hub comes with a 6' USB cable, and a power transformer, but the hub seems to work with or without the transformer plugged in.

I have used the hub on the following: Win98, WinME, WinXP and Apple ver. 10.4.
Each worked fine with printers and thumb drives. I have had the hub for 2 weeks so I cannot determine its durability. I have made one trip with it but it was well packed.
