Features

Wireless convenience: Share files, online games, printers and other devices anywhere in your home or office, and get online fast when you connect your network to a high-speed Internet connection. Enjoy wireless range up to 400', and transfer speeds up to 54Mbps—that's nearly five times faster than 802.11b technology.

How it works: It connects to your cable/DSL modem and communicates with your computers' 802.11g (backward-compatible with 802.11b) wireless network adapters, built-in wireless capability, or wired Ethernet adapters.

Wired or wireless: The built-in 4-port switch lets you add up to four wired computers to your network with Ethernet cables.

Security features: A NAT firewall blocks hackers, while VPN (Virtual Private Networking) allows authorized remote access. Your communications are protected with 64- and 128-bit WEP (Wired Equivalency Protection) encryption.

Simple setup: The install wizard automatically detects your Internet settings for a fast setup.

I hope I had a defective unit. It had a few problems that were serious enough for me to replace it with the Netgear, such as handing out duplicate IP addresses, losing internet connectivity randomly, and performing VERY slowly.
I installed the new Netgear in the same manner and environment, and it works flawlessly. The Belkin often couldn't get better than 30kbs downloads. I updated the firmware with no improvement, and tried the most recent drivers for the NICs. (I was using PCMCIA and PCI in multiple computers.)
I won't even discuss the problems trying to get it to work with WEP. I could have tried to work with Belkin tech support, but why bother when Netgear and Linksys are out there with good 54g options.
In summary, if you want to try this product, test it very well within the 30 days so that you can replace it with a different manufacturer, if necessary. Thanks to Circuit City for being flexible.

Only Good for One Laptop

This router is easy to install. Using multiple laptops or trying to stream video slows this to a crawl. So, good for one person and e-mail, light web surfing. Anything more and you need to upgrade.

I had resisted having a laptop for several years, but bought one to use in our travels., then realized adding a wireless router to home Verizon FIOS DSL made good sense. My son recommended Belkin F5D72304 Wireless Router, a model he had used successfullyfor several years. Price was right, reviews were positive, so I bought one. Secure installation was as easy as could be, and first day of use has gone very well. I hope ti continues to perform without problems. We shall see.
