Belkin Flip, USB with Audio

Features

One monitor for two computers: Maximize your connectivity with Flip. It lets you share one monitor, keyboard and mouse between two computers. Link two USB devices, such as a keyboard and a mouse, to your PC notebook or desktop for simultaneous use. Extremely versatile, it supports both PC and Mac® computers.

Click and flip: Just place the remote on your desk and press to flip your monitor from one computer to the other. Flip includes two built-in cables to connect computers. It’s also available with wireless remote.

Monitors supported: VGA and DVI-I (with VGA adapter). Resolution up to 2048 x 1536@65Hz.

Easy installation: No software is required. Flip installs in three easy steps, so you can connect instantly to your notebook computer and your desktop. A two-color LED on the remote indicates which computer Flip is accessing.

System requirements: Windows® 2000/XP/2003, Linux®, Mac OS® X v10.3 or higher

Remote Switch Does Not Work

The jack for the remote switch was defective & the only way I could switch PC's was to unplug the remote switch and plug it back in. Apparently, this shorted the jack so it thought the switch was being pressed. The only way to switch the Belkin with a hot key is to load software on the PC's. I exchanged the Belkin Flip for an IOGear KVM (GCS632U) and the IOGear switch works as advertised with no required software. You press the scroll lock twice & this activates the switch.

Also, the video on the the IOGear KVM looks a lot better than the Belkin Flip.

The IOGear switch is definitely higher quality than the Belkin Flip.

Quick and easy installation between my Dell Latitude D610 Laptop and Desktop machines. Can use included button for switch between computers, or the included manual tells you where to download Belkin's 'Flip' Software that you can set up a Hotkey sequenceor use the taskbar icon on the desktop for switching. You can even swap all but the audio if you are like me and like to listen to music or podcasts on one computer while working on the other. Highly recommended for a simple and cost-effective solution.
