Beware the battery insertion - among other problems

When I first put it together I slid the bettery in wrong. It took me a call to Belkin Tech support to find that out as there is no illustration of this tricky manouver in the instructions. In fact there is no mention at all. The problem was that there are2 prongs on one edge that need to come up over the top. I had pressed the down with the original insertion. The TS guy helped me work this out.

The other poblem is that the device is powered only by the machine it 'sees'. wht this means is that if you turn off that machine (say to undock you laptop like I do) you then cannot switch to the other. The solution for that is to initiate the closedown and very quickly press the remote to flip...and hope the closedown goes smoothly..

Thefinal problem is that the USB cable did not work the mouse when plugged into my Dell laptop docking station. I was able to move the cable round to a free port on the edge of the laptop itself. know a number of other dell laptops that don't have any sideporrts available.

After I connected to my two PC-s, it seemed that I have USB connectivity problem for my mouse and keyboard. Sometime after turning on my PC my mouse and keyboard did not work at all, than occasionally start working again after I disconnected then reconnected the USB connector. Than after one week my new PC wonâ€t start up at all. My new (ABIT IL9 Pro., motherboard died.) I replaced it with the same motherboard than when I tried to reconnect the switch I experienced the same USB connectivity problem. I quickly disconnected from my PC, and by removing one screw hidden by the bottom label, I disassembled it. The problem was obvious, the inside antenna (one piece un-insulated brass wire for the wireless remote) was shorting both USB connectors by resting on top of them. I solved the problem by drilling a small hole and pulled the antenna outside and taped it to the top cover. I solved my problem. It works ever since, but it did cost me a motherboard to find out about their manufacturing flaw.

The installation was straight forward. No problems there. I didn't like the idea of having a button to push to change between computers instead of using a key sequence on the keyboard. This proved to be a valid concern as the button failed 3 days pastthe return date.
