Use this versatile server as a central location where all of your networked computers can share files. The LinkStation Live can also stream multimedia to a PC, a Mac, a Buffalo LinkTheater™ and other DLNA Certified™ media players. 

Built for speed: The LinkStation Live features a high-speed processor and 500GB, 7200RPM SATA hard drive.

Centralize your music collection: The LinkStation Live seamlessly integrates with iTunes® 7. Use iTunes to access your music collection on the LinkStation. 

Print files from anywhere: The built-in print server allows you to print files from anywhere on your network. Please note that multi-function printers are not supported, and that the print server function works in Windows only.

Easily transfer photos: The Direct Copy feature lets you quickly and easily transfer photos from a digital camera directly to a LinkStation.

Back up files: Two or more LinkStations can be used to back up each other over your network.

Security options: Protect your data by restricting access with group and user level security.

This drive was a cinch to setup and administer the Web Access feature. It has very fast access times compared to other NAS/SAN I currently own. I have not tried USB drive attachment yet though. It handles multiple computers accessing fairly well (some decrease in navigation speed). It streams Hi Def content to my Netgear EVA8000 HD media player VERY well (when wired) with little to no buffering or lag.

Very easy to set up, it has been at the center of my backup system for the last month or so. It is accessed every day and it has worked flawlessly. I highly recommend this item for people looking for cost-effective backup solution.

I've owned this unit for over a year and I'm on my third and final one. The hardware that controls this NAS is seriously flawed. As other reviews have said, it lasts a couple months and crashes. The hard drive is still fine, it's Buffalo's hardware that interfaces with your computer that is flawed. When you get your warranty repaired unit they only give you 90 days. How can you trust a device with all your files when they only give you 90 days!!!! I am surprised they are still in business. My experience with this drive has left me disgusted with Buffalo Technology's quality. You might as well burn your money and save yourself the agony of losing your files.
