Really wants light

Weekly sale and rebates picked this one for me. Overall not a bad camera, but it really wants lots of light. After I got it installed and turned on for the first time, I said 'gaahhh...all blurry lag'. Then I started playing with the settings: took the 'exposure control' and 'white balance' OFF automatic and saw a big improvement. Nice feature in the settings is a frame rate display. My poorly lit living room and orange couch played havoc on the auto settings. With extra lamps turned on, I was ableto get 10 to 15 fps without looking too dark. I can get the max of 30, but it looks too dark.

Setup in WinXP took a while but was 'idiot-resistant'. I installed everything that came with it because I didn't know what everything was. Skip 'Sightspeed'and 'muVee'.

Built-in mic works good. Really like the 'parental-control' password feature. 'Smart Face Tracking' doesn't really work. Don't forget the manual (physical) focus ring on the cam - it really shapens things up.

I purchased this camera at the Circuit City store in Sunset (Hollywood) and it turned out to be the worst and most blurry web camera ever. They pulled the price down in the store from $50 to $29. Another customer on this site recommended playing with the settings. Well, we worked several hours with the settings and gave up and going right now to return it to the store. Shouldn't it be 'Plug-and-Play'? Checked out other sites and people complained of the same.
