Features

Home network: The D-Link Rangebooster G Wireless Router helps you create a wireless home network via a broadband modem connection. Share your high-speed connection with multiple users, share files, music and photos.

Faster: The Rangebooster G presents faster wireless signal rates, which reduces file transfer time, and greater wireless coverage than most 802.11g devices

Compatibility: This router is compatible with the 802.11g standard and is backward-compatible with 802.11b, which allows compatibility with a variety of wireless devices.

Security: The router provides a firewall using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) technology to protect your network hackers and unwanted intruders. This router features MAC address filtering, parental control and also supports WEP and WPA encryption.

Easy installation: D-Link's Quick Router Setup Wizard allows easy setup by configuring your Internet Service Provider (ISP) settings for broadband connectivity. It also provides easy connection for new wireless devices onto the network.

The firmware update is necessary. If you don't do that the new settings won't be saved.

A very good router, but you may need help to install it.

The connection of the different pieces to to set up the system is easy. Accessing the router and entering the network settings was a lot harder. The greatest problem was that after changes are make to the router, power to the modem and router has to beunplugged, then the computer restarted, and the power to the modem and router restarted. If you don't do this the internet will not work. You are not told this in the instructions and I only figured this out through trial or error.

The instructions arenot that clear or easy to follow. However, in time and a lot of time at that, I got it working and it does a really good job. Unless you have installed a wireless router before it is probably better to have someone help you who has done it before.

This router worked perfectly the first time, and it was easy to change the default settings and get encryption going. I appreciate Circuit City still offering a good wireless G router like this one. I don't need an expensive N router, and I assume thereare others who don't either.
