Still premature technology, good idea to wait

The idea of such a device seemed attractive. However, the device itself has too many negative qualities.
Good parts: Plays variety of formats including WMV,WMV HD, Divx, Xvid, MPEG4, VOB etc.
Negatives: Poor wireless performance, Bad FF and Rew controls

Although the device is able to play most common video and audio formats and handles Hidef content reasonably well, it still lacks a seamless Forward and Rewind capability which is a letdown especially when you are watching a movie and the wireless connection disrupts due to a neighbor using a 2.4Ghz phone. You have to start watching from the beginning as the Forward and Rewind features work really bad. There is an alternative to FF and Rew in setup that lets you jump to a particular position in the videoby specifying the time where you want to jump to, but even with that the number of times the connection goes down and you again have to start from the beginning and jump is a problem as you have to keep trying various time entries to reach the right spotwhere you got disconnected. I had tried many different antennas for wireless gain and I was even trying multiple wireless routers and accesspoints. In my setup the wireless router was in my 3rd floor and the Dlink player was in the 1st floor family room.The wireless signal was good enough since I was trying only Pre-N and Draft-N access points that have a really good range. As an example a neighbor is able to use my internet connection just fine about 100 feet away, and my laptop computers work great onthesame wireless in my entire house. My recommendation, wait for such devices to mature in terms of technology and user friendliness.

I got this item like 2 months ago. It is pretty good it has all i need. I didn't have any wireless problems and i dont know why people are having problems with FF and RW cuz mine is working perfect I guess for the price this is the best you can get on market.

it was very hard to set up and woul only work when wired, not well wireless.
