I had my 3 LNB receiver installed by a Dirct t.v. tech prior to buying my HD T.V. & HD receiver. I purchased the HD receiver and HD LCD T.V. and called Direct T.V to assist me with the set up. I advised the tech on the phone that I wanted to keep the original non HD box to use on a regular T.V. in another room. When I hooked everthing up the signal was to week to get reception from both receivers. I called Direct T.V. and they informed me that I should have been told by the first tech on the phone, thatbyusing the new HD receiver and splitting the signal to the non HD receiver I would have to upgrade from the 3 LNB to a 5 LNB dish. The upgrade will cost $49.95 including installatin for the new dish so that both receivers will work. Its not the cost, it's the frustration of taking 3 days of trying to get the whole system working. Direct T.V. will send a tech to install the new 5 LNB dish and check to make sure both receivers are working properly.

Directv is changing in a bad way new charges (leasing) I am an old customer they tell you offers that do not plan to give you. Beware of this new directv I am going to try dishnetwork instead

I have been a customer of Directv for over 12 years. I have just found out that they have implemented a 'lease' fee for all of their receivers, even if you purchase one from a retailer. Supposedly, this is to 'recover' the cost of manufacturing the receivers. I have spent several hours on the phone with their once great customer service people. That too has gone down hill. The lease fee is $4.99 per month and if you do the math, becomes $120 of extra money in Directv's pocket after signing a twoyear agreement, above and beyond the standard programming charges. I am cancelling my Directv Account.
