DIRECTV® satellite receiver: Access over 250 digital-quality channels through DIRECTV. With plenty of premium channels and a variety of sports packages to choose from, you'll always find something to watch. You can even get program listings up to two weeks ahead of time with the Advanced Program Guide™.

Digital video recorder (DVR) : Digitally record up to 100 hours of your favorite programming, or enjoy the convenience of one-touch recording while you watch live TV. Never again will you have to buy videotapes or hassle with trying to set your VCR to record. A monthly DVR service fee of $5.99 applies

Instant replay: Immediately rewind and replay whatever you're watching with the instant replay function, then restart the program where you left off.

Optical Dolby® Digital output: Just connect this receiver to a Dolby®-compatible sound system, use a digital optical cable, and get set for super-crisp, super-realistic digital audio.

Intelligent recording : Record programs with your favorite actor, director or based on a special keyword. The function searches programs and schedules recording for you.

Convenience features: Take advantage of the on-screen program guide, manual commercial skip and multiple speed rewind/fast forward to watch TV the way you want.

Additional components: While this receiver is compatible with DIRECTV® broadcasts, you will also need a subscription service to supply the signal and a satellite dish that's able to receive the services you want.

• An upfront equipment upgrade fee of $99.99

• -PLUS- a monthly lease fee of $4.99

• DIRECTV monthly lease fee of $4.99. Each additional receiver applies

• Over 155 channels, including local stations, for just $44.99 a month

Note: DIRECTV services are sold separately. A maximum of six (6) receivers may be leased per year, but not more than two (2) DVR receivers, two (2) HD receivers and one (1) HD DVR receiver may by leased in a given year. On approved credit. A programming commitment is required and sold separately.

I was excited to add another DVR to our living room with some Christmas $$$ I had received. I saw the add for a free DVR from direct tv (with rebate) and raced down to CC to get it.

I spent last night hooking in all up and WOW to my surprise IT'S NOT TIVO. First of all direct tv had trouble figuring out why it wouldn't work because I had TIVO in the other room.

When we finally got it working IT'S NOT TIVO. The functions are the same, but the interface is really hard and confusing. It will get the job done, but I SURE LIKE TIVO!

We have had four of these -- three are broken -- only one has been remotely dependable. A HUGE disappointment and dealing with DirecTV customer service is something to be avoided at all costs!

I purchased on of these less than 1 year ago, 2nd tuner died. Also I personally prefer the TIVO over the DVR. TIVO has there act together with scheduling, priority and general ease of use.

It's not hard to use, just a pain if you ever experienced TIVO.
