This unit has a unique assembly process where you have to pull the unit out of the shell, then install the shell, and then shove the unit back into the installed shell. I would say that it's a clever installation process (you install a feather light shell and then simply shove the heavy unit into the shell) however, the instructions are so poorly written I wouldn't recommend this unit to anybody that doesn't love mind teaser puzzles. The diagrams on the instructions are like ink blots from a Rorschach test. Is that part A on the page there, or is it a hammer I want to use to smash this stupid air conditioner? On the positive side, the unit does work well once installed and mine happens to be very quiet compared to other 10000BTU AC's. There are a couple of unanswered questions with the operating manual as well. For instance, there is a 'Dry' mode, which is explained as 'Select Dry mode for Dry operation'. One might assume that means it will also work like a dehumidifier, until you turn the page andsee instruction to use the 'Drain Pipe' when humid water makes the Base Pan overflow. Of course, the drain pipe hole is on the outside of the unit, so good luck if you install it on a 2nd or 3rd floor. Don't try to go to LG's website for answers, the model number doesn't bring up anything.

I RATED THIS AC IN LATE JUNE (24), AND IT HAS PERFORMED BEAUTIFULLY. In 2 months time, we can honestly say that we have saved between $50 and $60 on our electric bills. This unit will pay for itself in 2-3 years.
Assembling unit was another matter entirely. Instructions say to install shell in window opening and then place ac unit in shell. Well, WWF was not available so we put the ac unit in the shell, and then placed into window opening. We have had no problems with that method.

The instruction manual for installation and operation of the unit was very poor. The diagrams were too small to be read properly, and unclear.
