excellent BD-DVD and HD-DVD playback, annoying green bar in upper right corner sd-dvd play back.

Pros: Great play back on BD-DVD and HD-DVD. One player means more room in my home theater system. Smaller than my old samsung BP-1200. Appox 30 seconds for both formats.

Cons: Price, lucky fo me I got it on sale. The playback on SD-DVD is nice, but ithas a annoying green line on the upper right hand corner of my 46inch sony bravia. To correct this, I change the screen size from normal, to wide-zoom. It may distort the image just a tiny bit, but still viewable.
The audio will need a update here. Only does DTS, Dolby Digital.

Other thoughts, this a great replacement for my old blu-ray player. I have read on the internet that LG will be updating the firmware here rather soon, and they have a reprutation for good pro-active firmware updates.

Nice looking unit. The picture, while better than standard DVD, isn't as crisp as my Toshiba HD DVD Player. Slow to load like the HD DVD. I guess it's all that extra data. This unit likes to change resolution a lot. When watching extra content, it changesthe resolution from 1080p to 1080p with every subtitle. What's that about? My television shows when the resolution changes, so it's a little annoying. The remote is not back lit as indicated in the specifications. I emailed LG and they said they changedthe specification (because they could). Nice of them to let us know. I bought a big screen television and a Super Blu player because my eyes aren't what they used to be and a back lit remote would really be nice. Hint, hint LG! More movies available thanfor HD DVD, but still limited and I would like to see the prices come down some, especially since most are re-releases. I'm not against free enterprise, but come on, I've bought most of these movies in VHS, then DVD and now Blu-ray. I hope my kids like the same kind of movies, because there won't be as money to leave them. The upconverting of standard DVDs looks pretty good, so if you don't want to take the plunge in hi-def just yet, that's a great alternative.

Excellent player! Since it plays everything,it will be a long time before it is outdated.Service is out standing! The folks at LG are VERY knowledgable about ther products. I was shaky about downloading the firmware updates so LG sent me,upon request, a disc with the firmware downloaded and burned to the disc.Needless to say,everything worked like a champ.I did recommend to LG that they mass produce update discs for those,like me,who don't feel comfortable or don't have the appropriate software to burn data to cd's or dvd's.
