Don't waste your money

I owned and used this product since June 2006. The sound quality is not good at all. I would always get asked if I was using a cell phone, because there was a delay or an echo in the sound quality. I gave up explaining that I was using Skype and justsaid I was on a celll phone. I thought the problem was broadband issues or issues with Skype.

Linksys support is terrible because they don't know this product. This is not a core product for linksys. Linksys created a forum on their websit for peopletouse for support issues. It's a bad sign when the customer has use this as a method as support and where the customer is left to figure things out for themselves.

In October, I purchased another Skype product to replace this one. I got tired of the sound quality and the lack of support. This other product is amazing. Sound quality is greatly improved over the Linksys product. No more dropped calls. This proved to me that my issues were not bandwidth or network, it was a problem with the Linksys product.

The Linksys product has some nice features, like checking voice mail directly from the phone and syncing up your caller list. I gave up these features to have better sound qualilty.

I've tried this phone on 2 different computers - 1 with Vista and 1 with XP. I could not get it to connect on the Vista system but did have some luck on the XP system. The main problem is that it drops connection to it's base. Most of the time it is searching for it's base which is only 5 feet from the phone! When it does find the base and is connected with Skype I can make a call, but more times than not, the person I'm talking to has static on their end or cannot hear me. I'd say I've mad about 3 successful calls from it in a month. Linksys is absolutely no help in the matter. I paid around $70 for this phone and it is a rip off. I've since purchased an off-brand phone that is similar except is not wirelss. It wokds 100% of the time and only cost $13.

I have had this phone for about a month now. I use use it exclusively for Skypeout calls. The people that I talk to will tell me when the quality is down and I have had no comments or concerns. There is no echo whatsoever. I can walk anywhere in the house (the computer is at one end) and the connection is solid.
It does not work with Vista so I hooked it up to one of my laptops that is running XP and it installed flawlessly. I first thought that this might be inconvenient but then realized that I now can take this phone with me an the road. Good deal
