This Card Fixed My Wireless Frustrations!

I am new to the networking world, and adding the wireless side to it adds a whole new level of frustration. Although, after three routers & a PC card, I have finally figured it out. I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite M45-S359 laptop with the Centrinomobile technology. It has the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG networking card built into it. I figured that this was as good as it could get. My first wireless router was the D-Link DI-524. The price was right, but the performance wasn't there. I was abletoget the full 54Mbps, but then it would drop all the way down to 1 Mbps, then up a little, then back down, and so on. It would also completely lose the network connection. Sometimes this occured several times within a minute. By the way, I live a ranchhome and the farthest away from the router I get is about 40 feet. Next, I tried the Linksys WRT54G wireless router. This had the same problems. Again, the price was right, but that's about it. The Netgear WPN824 wireless router was the next choice.The price was a little high ($99 after instant rebates), but I figured that this would be the cream of the crop. Installation was a breeze, as were the other two routers. Although the performance was a little bit better, the same problems still existedto a level I did not feel was up to par. That's when I broke down and spent some more money for the matching Netgear WPN511 Wireless PC Card. WOW! I finally have something a can call a network - wireless even. I can now transmit all over the houseat108Mbps. The signal weakens a little on the far end of the house, but peformance is not sacrificed. I chose the card over the USB device because it seemed like it would be more secure and less likely to get damaged by the way it hangs out the side of the laptop. I don't know if trying the matching PC cards with the other wireless routers would have made a difference or not, but I do know that they would not have been able to get 108Mbps. I can now load all of my music and picture files onto my desktopand access them from my laptop with no worries of lagging speed. Good job Netgear!

When I first got the crad and installed it into my laptop, it worked right away and it was great. My old computer with built in wifi couldnt read what this card could. This card is great and anyone who wants wireless internet should get this card. My first one unfortunately broke only because of me not being responsible and using it the wrong way, but I got the card again and I love it. It works well for me and it is really fast and i'm connecting to the internet with no problem and the house is 3 housesdown.

I bought this card to replace my factory card on my Dell labptop. I couldn't go more than about 50ft from my router without loosing the signal. I've had it for about three weeks now and I haven't lost a signal or had the speed slow yet. I can actuallypick up a signal from a few of the neighbors now. One of which is three houses down on the other side of the street and I am still picking up a signal strength of 40%. Installation was a snap. Pop the installation CD in and just a couple of minutes later, you're ready to go.
