More than a voice recorder: The Olympus WS-311M Digital Voice Recorder is a voice recorder, music player and portable storage device all in one—the perfect device for when you're on-the-go.

Huge memory: 512MB of internal flash memory gives you up to 138 hours of uninterrupted recording time in LP mode, which means you'll never miss out on daily meetings or lectures or run out of recording time when you least expect it. One long-life battery (supplied) provides 21 hours of continuous operation.

WMA recording format: The widely used Windows Media Audio (WMA) format lets you enjoy your recordings on any standard Windows-based PC or Mac.

Built-in stereo microphone: No matter what you record—personal notes, school lectures, business-related meetings and music galore—it will all sound great in clear stereo from the built-in stereo microphone.

MP3 player: Store and listen to up to 120 songs for entertainment on the go. Keep your music at your fingertips.

Direct PC link: Plug right into the USB port on a computer to download or upload files with the WS-311M's cool "USB Direct" design. You can store and organize your files on the WS-311M then transfer them to your PC in no time.

Six recording modes: Use STXQ, STHQ and STSP for stereo recording or HQ, LP and SP for extended recording. The Variable Control Voice Activator (VCVA) records only when sound is sensed, and the Low Cut Filter minimizes low frequency sounds, such as background noise, when recording.

Speaker: The digital recorder has a built-in ø18 mm round dynamic speaker.

I bought this model recorder after much research last year to use for lectures at college. Worked great in small class settings. I inadvertantly left it in a classroom and it was stolen, but I liked it so well I immediately went out and purchased a replacement from C.C. I paid alot less on the second one and am extremely happy with the results. I dont use it for music and such, just for lectures at school. When I get home I then can download lectures onto my computer(easy) and listen through my computer or store in computer and relisten to at a later time. Great product. Really helped me out at school.

didn't really get a chance to thoroughly read the instructions b/4 using it, but it more than served my needs.. i especially like that it has as much as 155 hours of recording memory..

I bought 2 digital recorders, Sony's ICDSX68DR9 ($170) and this product. I tested both products in a classroom (sitting in the first few rows) and listened to the recordings. Yes, Sony's recorder did have less background noise, but the professor's voicealways sounded a little farther away, like they were in the next room. Olympus' recorder had more noise, but I thought I could hear the professor's voice louder. I returned Sony's recorder for a full refund, I've been using this product for the past year and have loved it. The only disadvantage is that you should always carry extra batteries with you, because it goes through them pretty fast. For Mac users, you don't need any extra software, you can download a free program online that'll let you listen to them.
