Oregon Scientific Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer Clock

Features

Transmission range: The remote sensor can be placed up to 100’ away from the receiver.

Temperature and humidity readings: The unit will measure environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, head index and more. There is also a trend indicator, so you can tell if the temperature and/or humidity level is rising or falling.

Ice alert: The weather station will alert you to icy conditions.

Atomic clock: The unit will automatically set itself to the U.S. Atomic Clock and adjust for daylight savings time.

Crescendo alarm: The alarm gradually gets louder, and has a snooze function.

Language settings: Choose from English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Outdoor temperature range: -22°F to 140°F

Overall, this seems like a decent product at a fairly reasonable price. However, one thing that caught me off guard is that for the outdoor reading, you do not get any humidity reading. You could argue that the outdoor humidity is moor important than the indoor humidity, so this surprised and displeased me.

Also, I bought the item at the store, came home and looked at the item online, and saw that it is $12.00 cheaper online. This seems pretty unfair to me.

Communication between the sensor and the display only worked 1 foot away

Terrible.
.
When the sensor and the display were side by side on a table, they DID actually communicate, but even then, indicated a variation between the two temp readings. (they were SIDE by SIDE !)

Next, when the sensor was moved outdoors, the readings stopped completely apparently the range was too great.
.
So, I experimented with range, and tried them in adjacent rooms. Still no readings. Repeated experiments where the distance was reduced proved that the two devices would not communicate untilthere were within 2 feet of each other.

Easy to set up, nice feature being able to add multiple sensor units. I like the fact that I can see it from across the room. Good unit for the money.
