Product description

Panasonic 50" VIERA Plasma HDTV

Features

Screen size: This plasma television has a 50” screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner. This screen size is perfect for viewing from 6.3’ to 12.5’ away.

Resolution: A 720p resolution means that this television has 720 rows of pixels vertically. The more pixels a TV has, the clearer the images it can produce. The p stands for progressive scan, which means the TV refreshes every row of pixels during each cycle to produce smoother motion and sharper picture than interlaced scan.

NTSC tuner: A built-in NTSC tuner allows you to view standard analog television broadcasts through your television without a separate cable box.

ATSC tuner: The ATSC tuner means that you can enjoy over-the-air digital channels and theater quality audio (with a separate HD antenna) without the need for a digital antenna.

QAM tuner: The QAM tuner gives this TV the capability to receive free in-the-clear digital programming.

Aspect ratio: A width to height pixel ratio of 16:9 means this TV has a widescreen aspect ratio, which accurately recreates the dimensions in which HD programming and many feature films are shot.

Contrast ratio: Contrast ratio describes the difference between the darkest blacks and brightest whites a television is capable of producing. Since there is no industry standard for how contrast ratio is measured, it is only significant within a brand, not between brands. This television has a contrast ratio of 15,000:1.

Inputs: Using the 3 available HDMI inputs, you can experience high definition audio and video up to 720p. Also available are 2 component video inputs, 2 S-video inputs, 2 composite video inputs, and 1 RF input.

480Hz sub field drive: 480Hz sub field drive ensures that even fast action retains the highest possible resolution with no motion blur.

Great T.V.

This T.V. is replacing my H.D. 57in. Hitachi projection, and what a job of replacing it, it does! The only thing that troubles me, is there is some what it sounds like is vibration when I turn the bass anything past the flat setting, and therefore I can'teven use the bass boost, which is kinda' dissapointing. But even on most of the S.D. channels it looks great. Not a bit sorry I bought it. Was going to go for it's big brother the1080, but didn't feel like shelling out another grand.Does everything I want it to do, and then some.

Great Buy
Reviewer: BIll from Marion, IL on Jul 15, 2008

I just bought this TV to replace an old projections TV. The picture quality is outstanding. Sound is good but not exceptional. Price was my main motivation for buying. I actually got this TV cheaper than Wal-Mart or any other store that had this TV. I donot have HD cable yet, so I don't have a comment about the HD aspect, but even my regular DVD's are much better to view on this TV than old one. Good TV for price. Don't spend more when this one gives you what you need, unless you just have too much money.

great TV, but height is more that specs list if you use the stand
Reviewer: Savage from Castle Rock, CO on Jul 14, 2008

This tv is listed at 31.x ' tall, but it is really 33.3' tall using the included (excellent) stand. The stand was simple to put together and the set set over the top of the steel rods, then you fasten them on with 4 screws. The remove is very spartan and basic, which in fine since was using the dish remote instead anyways. The sound is a bit lacking in treble compared to my LG set the preceeded it. The screen is very nice looking and looks great in our window-filled family room. An excellent set for higher elevations. The picture looks great, but the 'normal' preset is rather dull. I prefer the 'vivid' preset a lot more. The dish SD looks decent under 720p. I really can't see a noticible difference from our old 1080i set.
