HDMI up-conversion: The highest available high-definition signal format contains 1080 vertical pixels and 1920 horizontal pixels. This player uses up-conversion so your standard DVDs will display near-HD quality images on your 1080p-compatible TV.
Progressive scan: Progressive scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. A full image is created instantaneously, using the maximum resolution. At such a speed, your eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure.
HDMI JPEG: Even your digital photos get upgraded to 1080p upconversion with the DVP5982. Thanks to HDMI JPEG, you get to see images in true high-definition resolution.
DivX Ultra certified: DivX Ultra brings DivX up a notch by giving you several more options to choose from when watching DivX video.Take advantage of snazzy features like integrated subtitles, multiple audio languages, multiple tracks and menus.
Dolby Digital: Both surround formats take a properly encoded DVD source, and assign a channel of sound to a respective speaker in a 5.1 home theater system. You get multi-layered audio that draws you further into your movie.
Smart Sound: Smart Sound provides the optimal sound settings for ultra bass, bass, treble and balance so that you can get the best listening experience.
Multiple format playback: This device is compatible with DVD, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD, CD, CD-R/RW, DivX, MP3, WMA, and JPEG formats.
