Multi-format player with upconversion: Enjoy your standard DVDs at the clarity of a high-definition disc. With an HDMI connection to a High Definition television, you can watch your standard DVDs at an upconverted rate of 1080p; you’ll get a much more clean and crisp image, when connected to a high-definition television set. The DV-400 is also officially certified as a DivX player, so you can play movies downloaded and burned onto a DVD. It also plays  DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, SVCD, VCD, CD-R, CD-RW, and BD video. You can also enjoy MP3, MPEG4, and WMA (Windows Media) audio files.

Dolby Digital and dts: When hooked up to the proper home entertainment system, you’ll hear your movies with the audio clarity of Dolby and DTS 5.1 technologies, where individual sound channels are routed to assigned speakers to give you a full audio experience. It’ll feel as if you’re in the middle of the movie.

Great Player...until it broke.

Bought this on 12/7/07. I used the USB feature as well as the normal DVD player. I never had any issues with the DVD portion of it, that worked and looked just fine. The USB player however, quit working on 3/22/08. About 4 months or so. It just wouldn't load any USB device anymore. So I took it back to 'Best Buy' (wrong website I know) but they have a 30 day or your out of luck policy....even with my original receipt. So then I tried to go through the manufacturer, guess what. Their warranty was only for 90 days! Now, to fix it I have to pay Pioneer $49...about 50% of the original cost. (I paid $99.99). So either I drop it off a large building, pay 50 bucks to fix a broken player that is now brand new for $76.99, or just buy something else. Summary: The thing quit working after just 4 months and no one accepts responsibility for this sub-par performance.

Nice player for the money and the picture. We haven't used the flash drive, yet. We were looking for a cheap player with the S component, but we couldn't find one. So, we had to pay a little bit more. Pretty straightforward to play, and like the layoutof the remote. Far as sound quality, really haven't hook it up to speakers.....

I was disappointed was the packaging. I had to order it from Circuit City, and the player was dropped off at my door in the original box. It's good thing I have trusting neighbors because anyone could of pick up a nice dvd player. Usually, packages are inside another box to hide what's inside.

I got this about a month ago for $67 and it has been very good. The upconvert to my 720P Plasma has been flawless, with the exception of one DVD, where it froze for a second at the end of segments, but always continued.Other than that the video has beenterrific. The sound quality has also been excellent. I was concerned that it didn't have optical output, but the sound from the coax digital output to my AV receiver has been superb.

it is a bit slow to load discs, and the build quality looks average, ori would give it 5 stars overall. All in all though, it's a great buy for 70 bucks if you are looking for better DVD performance and don't want to spend big bucks on Blu-ray
