Pros:
- Favorite feature: can drag and drop files -- don't have to use a third-party application the way you have to with iPods. Note: the player uses ID3 v2 (not v1) tag information to catalog the files. Make sure your files are tagged properly and thatthe track numbers are also specified in the v2 id3 tag. Otherwise, the files will not play in the proper order: for some reason, if the ID3 tag is missing or ID3 v1 tag is present, the player puts the first track last and the rest are in order (so playbackstarts with track #2).
- Second most favorite feature: 5-band custom equalizer. This is great to tweak the sound if you use the player as a source in your car or with poor speakers.
- Sound quality is very very good: low noise floor, good extension in both bass and treble (with Sony MDR-V6 headphones). The 30GB (5gen) iPod has a little more openness to the sound and seems to have better bass definition, but it is really tough to notice the difference.

Cons:
- screen is not great... definitely not iPodquality. The highlight color in the menus is too close to the background color, so it becomes difficult to see which item you've selected.
- can't create playlists on the PC and drop them along with the files onto the player. iPod/iTunes does this better.

Other
- will not do gapless playback
- records FM radio in mono with much reduced quality.

Conclusion:
I am keeping mine.

Have had mine for about 2+ years now, its worn out and just recently broke the audio jack, but considering that its been run over by 3 cars, dropped who knows how many times it has lasted a LONG time. The battery lasts about 10 hours even after 2 years ofhard-core abuse with constant recharging done every few days from all the use it gets. Over all the product is very stable, very good features, and with the option for a sd card you can expand the memory even more. For the price, I just might go out andget another one since its so damn good.

(Durability should be 10/5 lol)

I did had for about a year and it is not really good it won't download after you format three times. I should bought Zune instead I only go for the quality, period
