I am a proffesional photographer / videographer and use CD and DVD media in my daily work, The DRU-840A is one of the simplest drives to install and use, it even comes with software to create your own CD's or DVD's. The drive is fast and quiet and I findit also accepts most brands of digital media and allows you to use all the popular formats of digital media.

Mac users-ignore all the Windows software requirements on the box.

It took me maybe 20 minutes to install this into my (old) Powermac G4 when it's drive burned out. It was as simple as changing a light bulb and works perfectly. I guess we'll see if I'm still singing this tune in a couple years, but for $59, I'm glad I got it & I generally trust Sony more than some of the other brands out there.

I purchased the SOny to replace a Sony that had burned out.
It works fine, except, it does not work with DVD's I had in stock, I had to purchase a different brand, even though the old SOny, exact same model worked with those...

I have 2 dvd burners, so Iwill use the old dvd's on the other burner...
