For cinematic effects, crank up the bass level and let the 12" mica-reinforced cellular woofer do the rest.

Mica-reinforced: The subwoofer cone is reinforced with mica, a mineral that delivers better sound than conventional paper cones. These speakers combine acute sensitivity and the ability to handle high-power.

Line-level inputs: Connect directly to the subwoofer output on your receiver with an RCA patch cable.

Speaker-level inputs: Connect the subwoofer to your receiver with speaker wire.

pretty good base sound only dislike when turned up past mid way on my vol control certian movie effects make it sound like it cracks so trun the base down or the vol besides that i recomend it

Good Boom for the Buck!

OK this speaker looks like a lump of coal sitting in the corner of my room but it made a huge difference in sound quaility. It is especially significant in watching action adventure movies. It Booms when its required and stays quiet when its not. I haveit connected to a sony 5.1 receiver and a sony center speaker with bose side speakers. Im currently using a 61 inch samsung 1080p TV. The only thing I did was change out the cord that came with the speaker to a better subwoofer cord ( yes they do sell subwoofer cords). Overall I am very pleased with this subwoofer. I have had it for six months and would recommend this unit for those of us who still like to get good vibrations . I would caution anyone who lives in an apartment that the low frequency maypass thru your neighbors walls or floor.

I purchased this Subwoofer yesterday and I'm quite impressed with the sound. It has Sony quality built right in. I'm a little concerned with one of the reviews I read about it lasting only two years however, (that was a different model altogether) the sound quality that I'm hearing tells me it is of good quality and the Sony name has been well tested by me and I have nothing bad to say. If you want a Subwoofer that is a great value for the money, this one may be perfect for you, as it is for me. If yourlooking to shake the earth and money is not an issue, spend the $400-$500 and get a Klipsh (hand made in Italy), Velodyne, Boston Acoustics or Polk.
