Not a bad entry level turntable

Too bad this unit doesn't have a 78-rpm selection. Other than that one missing feature it is not a bad unit. However, do count on sales person for accurate information. I specifically asked if this unit had a preamp and was told it did not. WRONG!! One of the nice features of this unit is a selector switch, which turns the internal preamp on or off. The turntable can be connected to a receiver with phono inputs, which have a built in preamp, or it can be connected to a receiver with just auxiliary inputs with no preamp. Not a bad deal no matter which type of inputs you have. Should have checked with Sony. Unit doesn’t have an external ground wire to connect to the receiver but have not noticed any hum normally associated with turntables without an external ground wire. One additional note, the RCA and A/C cables are permanently attached to the unit, not of the rear plug in design.

If you are looking for a good, no frills turntable this one is a great deal for the money. The only drawback for me is that the cord in the back is attached and is very short and just barely made it to my receiver. There is also no grounding wire, but it doesn't seem to hum even at high volumes. The pre-amp switch is a plus if you have a new receiver that has no phono inputs. Great player for the money.
