Features

Cools mid-sized rooms: With 8,000 BTU, this air conditioner is perfect for cooling mid-sized rooms up to 350 square feet.

Adjustable thermostat: Set the thermostat to your desired temperature. The AC will keep you cool and comfortable.

Dehumidifier: This air conditioner features a dehumidifier with a capacity of 2.1 pints per hour.

Multi-directional air flow: With this feature, you can direct cool air exactly where you want it. It can be adjusted up and down, and from left to right.

Other features: The SCA083RWC1 includes a remote control, three cooling and fan speeds, energy saver mode, a 24 hour timer, a mesh air filter, and a pleated quick-mount kit.

Powerful but a few design flaws

***Pros:
1. It is the smallest, lightest 8000 BTU A/C unit I could find.
2. It cools very well, outputting an impressive amount of air from a very powerful fan.
3. Great Price for the Power.
4. The digital controls work well as does the remote control.

***Cons:
1. 30 minutes after using it started to develop 'funky air conditioner' smell which is quite offensive. This is probably a design flaw.
The unit is tilted to allow water to flow out of it but it seems they did not design it correctly. Simply drilling holes in the bottom of the unit would have allowed for very effective water removal..as it is the water just pools and stagnates.
2. There is no protective grill to cover the back cooling fins, so beware if you live around children who liketo bounce balls, etc.
3. The left batwing extension lead was deformed from the factory and was unable to insert it into the frame without some tweaking.
4. The insides are Styrofoam as opposed to plastic or metal, which means that light can penetrate through the unit into the inside.
5. The unit is Loud compared to other similar models.
6. The top of the unit was deformed slightly and it was difficult to attach the top rail using the supplied screws.

***Summary: Good quality, poor design.
If you can live with the Odor (or find away around it) and the few design omissions and quirks, this is a powerful unit that will indeed cool very well, if a bit loudly.
IMHO It's a shame the unit was not made in America as I'm sure the design would have been better thought-out.

I've enjoy the comfort of the unit and the way it keeps the room and I'm able to sleep very comfortable which without the unit, the room was so hot. I can turn it on at night before going to bed and by the time I get into bed, it's very cool and I'm ableto breath and sleep right through only getting up once during the night. Thanks for such a wonderful products. I've purchased three units from you (a 5,000, a 8,000 & 10,000 units). All are working excelently.

Does a great job cooling but a terrible job at dehumidifying (it is advertised as a dehumidifier, as well). Do not get this unit expecting it to dehumidify... the humidity in our son's room only dropped a point when we used it. We ended up having to purchase a separate dehumidifier.
