A beautiful and functional flat panel tv stand.

Side to side swivel base (not 360 degree turn) allows you to get good viewing angle. We attached a 32' flat panel HDTV to the stand and felt this was a better alternative to a wall mount. There was enough sheving for the home theater system and the cable HD box. A very beautiful and functional piece of furniture, becomes one with the tv.

Although I wrote this review on 13 Sept 08, I actually purchased the unit on 15 April. I wanted to make sure that I'd lived with it for a while before I gave my review.

The stand is perfect for me it does everything I wanted it to do. I love how it looks.and I love the fact that it swivels. I fell in love with a beautiful tv stand in a fancy-schmanchy european furniture store which looks very much like this one, but cost $1500, and it didn't even swivel. I'm MUCH happier with the TechCraft!

The glass shelves are very securly mounted with clamps that grab the glass and insert into holes located on the stand and provide some level of ajustability. Some of the stands that I've seen are only secured with suction cups... that's not my idea of secure.Stick with the TechCraft.

The stand assembles easily, although the cam bolt heads stripped off when I tried to tighten them down too far. No problem, just a trip to a hardware store to get new (better ones) and continue the assembly. I highly recommend getting stronger cam bolts BEFORE starting the assmebly. You will be much happier knowing that they won't break.

The tv attaches to the main portion of the stand by a couple of strong metal 'gamma' shaped brackets that hook over the back of the unit.More on that below...

Before I purchased it, I called TechCraft to ask about putting a 40' Sony tv on it. Since the set weighs less than their indicated maximum of 75lbs, they told me that the set would be ok on the stand.

I've gone through a couple of reconfigurations of the shelves and the components. I found the unit to be very easy to manipulate around and the rewiring to be very easy to do. Also, the wiring management does a very good job.

The one thing that I did, of which I am now very glad,is not screw down the brackets that hold the tv to the back of the stand. Some of the connections on the back of my tv are a llittle hard to reach, given the size of the hole in the back (remember, my tv is 40' not 37'.) So all I have to do is slide the brackets along the back of the stand until I can reach the connection. These things will vary depending on the television.

Again, the stand was easy to assemble (with the one nuance), looks great, is very versitile and has held up extremely well during the first 6 months. If this is your style, you won't be sorry.

Cheap bolts

My problem:

with this unit was the metal dowels, they are cheaply made and I was not even half way putting the screw into the hole that the heads would break off the dowel. Even broke off when putting it into the plastic fitting. Nobody complained aboutthis issue so I may have recieved a bad batch of bolts. I emailed Tech Craft - wait and see what happens

it was missing 1 shelf.

The good things:

are that it designed for a small areaand not take up much floor space

Great looking stand, gives you that modern look and feel
