Product description

Vizio 42" LCD HDTV

Features

Screen size: This flat-panel LCD television has a 42” screen, measured diagonally from corner to corner. This screen size is perfect for viewing from 5.3’ to 10.5’ away.

Resolution: A 1080p resolution means that this television has 1080 rows of pixels vertically. The more pixels a TV has, the clearer the images it can produce. The p stands for progressive scan, which means the TV refreshes every row of pixels during each cycle to produce smoother motion and sharper picture than interlaced scan.

NTSC tuner: A built-in NTSC tuner allows you to view standard analog television broadcasts through your television without a separate cable box.

ATSC tuner: The ATSC tuner means that you can enjoy over-the-air digital channels and theater quality audio (with a separate HD antenna) without the need for a digital antenna.

QAM tuner: The QAM tuner gives this TV the capability to receive free in-the-clear digital programming.

Aspect ratio: A width to height pixel ratio of 16:9 means this TV has a widescreen aspect ratio, which accurately recreates the dimensions in which HD programming and many feature films are shot.

Contrast ratio: Contrast ratio describes the difference between the darkest blacks and brightest whites a television is capable of producing. Since there is no industry standard for how contrast ratio is measured, it is only significant within a brand, not between brands. This television has a contrast ratio of 6,500:1.

Inputs: Using the four available HDMI inputs, you can experience high definition audio and video up to 1080p, the highest possible resolution available. The two component video inputs can be used for video resolution up to 1080i. Also available are one S-video input, two composite video inputs, one PC input and one RF input.

120 Hz frame rate: With a 120Hz panel refresh rate, this TV doubles the amount of frames it displays from 60 frames per second to 120 frames per second for smoother, more natural motion in every video you watch. It enhances your sports, action movies, and other fast-paced entertainment.

SRS TruSurround XT audio: SRS TruSurround XT creates a 3D wall of sound that moves past the physical width of the TV so the listener no longer needs to sit directly in the middle of the couch to hear best audio effect. TruSurround XT also lifts dialogue out of the chaos of sound and provides deep bass.

Great tv for the Money, but sound is basic at best.

Love this tv for the price, but sound could be a little better. Other than you can not beat the all the incredible features packed into this tv. When I hooked it up, I could not believe the crisp picture I was looking at. Replaced a Panasonic 42' plasma for this set & this one blows it away. Vizio rocks and you will not be sorry with this tv.

So Far So Good!

I started off with a 27' Vizio about a year ago and was impressed with its pricing. From what i'm reading with the other ratings it seem to be alot of operator error. I did the research before i bought the product and owuld recommend it to anyone. Likemost flat screen tv's the sound is awful but you odn't buy a TV like this wihtout a surround sound system. Once you get the menu's down and if you do alittle research on HD most of the jargin because second hand knowledge... I recommend doing the research and going with what is best for you.

42 inch VIZIO
Reviewer: Barb from Salem OR on Nov 9, 2008

My husband bought this TV for me last xmas. The picture was great and I loved it for 2 months. THEN a purple line grew down the screen and so I called VIZIO. I delt with them for over 5 months with all sorts of crap because they did not want to repair theTV. Finally they showed up with my replacement TV which was someone elses rebuilt TV. They set it up in my home and that TV had some white rolling lines in it and a fuzzy picture. I was mad, that they sent me someone else's problem and never fixed my TV.I ended up boxing up that TV and taking it back to the store for a refund. NEVER buy a VIZIO TV!!!!
