Bought this unit on sale at a local CircuitCity for cheaper than I could find anything similar from the online discounters. Works great quiet and fast. I'm very pleased with it.

The only snag I had with the drive was the supplied data cable which has a really nice handle on the drive connector to make installation and removal easier. Unfortunately the way the drives are mounted in my particular system this handle interefered with the side of the case and i was not able to put the side back on after installation until I picked up another cable. If your drives are in a tight space, plan ahead and pick up a standard data cable when you buy the drive.

I am running a Compaq Pentium D that is about 2 1/2 years old with XP Media Center w/ SP3. This drive was recognized and worked, but the 'install new hardware' wizard kept coming up and could not locate the appropriate drivers. The device manager showed ayellow indicator and no drivers installed.

No drivers on Compaq/HP and WD website. I called WD and, after one hour on the phone, they said that there was a compatability issue because the drive was 'too new' and the drivers were not out there. I had the source disc, but it also did not have the drivers.

My two other WD drives installed and worked perfectly... What gives with WD?

The driveâ€s installation was unremarkable, with just an annoying XP wizard that wanted to install an (unneeded) driver.

WD needs to supply four cylindrical mounting bolts that many computers use for slide in and snap mounting the supplied bolts let the drive slop around.

The drive runs slightly warm to the touch and is very quiet. I was impressed by the low wattage the drive consumes and its superior performance.
